The Benefits of After School Programs for Children
One of the most common reasons that parents enroll their children in after school programs is to make sure that the children are kept out of trouble while helping with the overall development of the child through educational and recreational activities. Knowing a lot of things at a young age may prove to be advantageous for a young child. It would be good to use a seedling for this case. As a seedling is still in the early years of its life, it will be easier to control or dictate the form that the seedling will grow into. This logic can also be applied to that of young children.
The best time to help develop the character of a child is as early as preschool or kindergarten as a later time might prove to be too difficult. One factor that it would be easier to develop children at such a young age is because they have more time as compared to adults. The academic load for these early years are usually composed of basic lesson and therefore will not be too hard for the children. This is where parents come in for them to willingly enroll their child in after school programs so as to help their child better develop themselves. Another good thing about this is that a child will learn to be independent from their parent, thereby avoiding too much pampering and spoiling but at the same time, keep the child in check and away from trouble.
After school programs can be generally categorized into three, namely education, recreational activities, and community service or involvement. Community services might be a bit too much for a young child, so it would be better to have a child enrolled in educational and recreational activities first, and once a little older, community service may follow. This set up would help develop the memory as well as the sense of responsibility of a child before entering tertiary education.
Along with other aspects, the concentration and memory of a child is best improved during educational and recreational activities offered by after school programs that they participate in. Improving and enhancing these aspects at an early year is still feasible especially since it is during these years that these aspects are very strong. The mental aspects of a young child is developed and improved in this activities the same way muscles are improved during exercise sessions.
There are a good number of parents who believe that enrolling their child in educational activities is enough, but there are also some parents who believe that it would be better to enroll their children in both educational and recreational activities. Another advantage in these after school activities is that the children can also learn more about various subjects like science, math, grammar, and even vocabulary among others. Children may also pick up skills in sports as well as other hobbies.
